Raw Protein Superfood Bars

Super delicious and healthy raw bars. Perfect as a sweet snack or Christmas treat.

  • For the superfood bars:
  • ¼ cup shelled hemp seeds/hemp hearts
  • 2 tbsp chia seeds
  • ¼ cup rolled oats
  • 1 tbsp. organic grated orange peel
  • 1-3 tsp maca powder (optional)
  • 1 cup pitted dates
  • ¼ cup almond butter
  • ¼ cup raw buckwheat groats
  • For the chocolate layer:
  • 2 tbsp.coconut oil
  • 1 tbsp. cocoa or cacao powder
  • 1 tbsp. maple syrup
  • Garnish: orange peel, hemp seeds, chopped cranberries
  1. Place hemp seeds, chia seeds, oats, orange peel and maca poweder in a food processor and pulse to combine – just a few seconds. Add in the dates and almond butter and blend until everything sticks together. Lastly add the buckwheat groats and blend until they are evenly distributed.
  2. Press the mass out into a pan or box of Tupperware.
  3. Now make the chocolate layer by melting the coconut oil over a low heat and mix in the cacao powder and syrup.
  4. Pour over the bars and let sit in the fridge for at least one hour. If you're adding toppings, do this 10 minutes after pouring on the chocolate layer.
